iOS 26.0.1 and macOS Tahoe 26.0.1 launched on Monday, bringing a range of bug fixes to the major operating system upgrades introduced earlier this month. That includes taking care of multiple issues in the new iPhone 17 series — some quite serious.

In addition, iPadOS 26.0.1, watchOS 26.0.1, tvOS 26.0.1 and visionOS 26.0.1 all went to users on Monday.

What’s new in iOS 26.0.1

iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26 launched September 15 with the new Liquid Glass look, plus a range of other enhancements. And iPadOS 26 brought a significant revamp to tablets.

Apple’s operating systems have grown huge. iOS contains millions of lines of code, and macOS is even larger. When new versions come out, bugs are inevitable. Hence the release of iOS 26.0.1, macOS Tahoe 26.0.1, and so on.

Apple’s official release notes for iOS 26.0.1 say that many of its fixes are for the recently launched iPhone 17 series, but they aren’t solely for the new models:

This update provides important bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone, including fixes for the following issues:

  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth may occasionally disconnect on iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models
  • A small number of iPhone users may be unable to connect to a cellular network after updating to iOS 26
  • Photos taken under certain lighting conditions with iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models may include unexpected artifacts
  • App icons may appear blank after adding a custom tint
  • VoiceOver may become disabled for some users after updating to iOS 26

Apple’s official release notes for macOS Tahoe 26.0.1 contain far fewer specifics:

This update provides important bug fixes, security updates, and resolves an issue that prevented some users from upgrading to macOS Tahoe on Mac Studio (M3 Ultra, 2025).

How to patch your Apple devices

iPhone and iPad users can install iOS 26.0.1 and iPadOS 26.0.1 directly by opening the Settings app and going to General > Software Update. Alternatively, update your devices by connecting them to a Mac (or to a PC running iTunes).

To download the macOS Tahoe 26.0.1 update, go to Apple menu  > About This Mac. Then click Software Update. Alternatively, install the new version from the App Store. (Note: At the time of this writing, Apple had not yet updated the version of macOS in the App Store. But it should happen soon.)

The watchOS update can be installed directly onto an Apple Watch, as long as the wearable is connected to Wi-Fi. From the Settings app, navigate to General > Software Update. Or install it from an iPhone by opening the Apple Watch app and going to My Watch > General > Software Update.

And Vision Pro users might need the Cult of Mac guide on how to update visionOS.
